Omg amazing wonderful

This book was amazing like omg I couldn't put it down I just kept reading it flipping page after page I was sad when it ended but it is a must read book I could read this book over and over again and never get bored it's a must read a must buy a must keep on your book shelf and with you forever cause you'll wanna readbit again and again and won't put it down couldn't stop reading to eat or drink or even sleep and you will feel like that to once you start this book it sucks you into the world that Amy creates she can really suck you in keep writin girl This book needs like a million stars not just five

Disappointing

After all the five star reviews, I thought I had discovered a new romance/suspense writer. Not! I was very disappointed in this book and won't waste my money on the rest of the series. The story doesn't hang together and there are so many typos and grammatical errors in the book, it distracted me from the "story". The story itself was so unrealistic and poorly written I wondered if it was a high-schoolers first try. It did put me to sleep several times, so maybe it should be listed under sedatives!

This book was a suspenseful, dark romance that kept me enthralled to the very end! I couldn't stop reading! Amy Blankenship is a very creative writer who's books always have you guessing with each plot and storyline. The twists and turns her heroes and heroines experience are very captivating and keep you on the edge of your seat! Great story! I love all of her books! Check them out, you won't be disappointed!

Sexual Tension satisfaction!

Samantha Cayto is a brand new find for me. An author who also writes m/f erotica, and I have to say I’m liking her m/m books and writing style in general. I discovered Ms Cayto in passing, when I spotted an upcoming new release of hers, with a blurb that really spoke to me so I requested it to review ASAP. A darker, Sci Fi slave-fic I'll be reviewing—(watch this space!)—that I absolutely loved!

At the end of the story there was an excerpt of Man Candy that grabbed me, so I just had to go buy the book to finish it off!

The story features Brent, a jaded, thirty something war photographer who is recovering from an injury sustained during his last assignment, and 'Danny,' real name Alex; a gorgeous young stripper he first encounters dancing at a club, where one of his friends has taken him as a means to take his mind off his recent trauma. They have a hot 'moment' of sorts but as far a Brent is concerned, it’s just a one off meeting, so he leaves thinking it’s the last time he'll see the tempting young minx. A week later he encounters Danny/Alex again, working at his families candy store in Maine where he's staying while he recuperates, and of course the attraction that sparked at the club rears its head again and the story kicks off.

Brent is an experienced Dom but hasn't had time for a regular submissive in his life because of his dangerous, time consuming career, so when Alex comes into his life it's hard not to give in to the temptation of the sexy young guy, who shows signs of being a natural submissive...something that of course calls to his dominance. However, Alex is only twenty one and even though he strips to help himself through college, and he's fooled around a bit, he's actually a virgin and until he’s finished school is still dependent on his parents who have no idea that he's gay.

Alex is desperately attracted to the older man he wants to finally take his virginity, and when they do give in to their physical attraction, finds himself happily exploring the submissive side that Brent brings out in him during their heated sexual encounters. His new lover is all man, but he's also a caring Dom who takes time to gently coach him through the BDSM play they indulge in; gaining his trust immediately, but with Alex being deeply closeted, and Brent worrying about his next assignment and the age difference between them, a relationship beyond a bit of secretive sex isn't really a feasible option. Or is it?

I’m a sexual tension girl and Samantha Cayto kept a palpable feeling of ST throughout the book, which started in the opening chapter and kept going through to the finish, leaving me very satisfied on that front.

It's not a story that brings anything particularly new to the table but it's written in an easy, laid back way that I inhaled in one sitting because I really liked what I was reading. The D/s scenes are lightweight but steamy, with a nice touch of kink, consisting mainly of a little bondage, some lighter breath play and spanking, and has a sweetness to it that adds an emotional connection to their scenes together. So even if BDSM isn’t normally your thing, I don’t think it would be a problem.

I enjoyed this so much I went off and bought a couple more of her m/m contemporary's, requested another slave story to review for the blog, and will certainly be on the lookout for more releases from Ms Cayto in the future! Just one thing…the guys on the cover don’t bear any resemblance to the characters I pictured in my head…just saying… but a very enjoyable read nonetheless!

Gay Love Story in Coastal Maine

This is one of the most delightful books by Samantha. In this story, Brent who is a war photographer and a Dom has been talked into going to a male strip show where he becomes super attracted to a stripper whose stage name is Danny. Several months later, recovering from an injury, Brent plans to spend the summer in a small coastal town in Maine staying at a place that rents cabins on the water to gay men. In fact the entire town has become a magnet for gay men. While walking around the town, he spots a candy store where he sees Danny, although his real name is Alex and it is Alex's family's very successful business. Alex works there during the summer and is about to return at the end of the summer to college for his senior year. That night, Alex waits for Brent to come back to his cabin and tells him that he is a complete virgin and seriously wants Brent to teach him the gay sex that he wants but has had almost no experience with. While Alex is 21, Brent is reluctant to do so, but finally gives in. Over several weeks, Brent initiates Alex not only into gay sex, but also into light BDSM. It turns out that Alex is not only a fast learner but is also a perfect Sub. This is a truly wonderful love story; even those of you who dislike BDSM will enjoy it. Don't let it pass you by. Buy it, read it and experience a truly superb love story which is also extremely sexually stimulating.

Worth the expence.

Costly. I had to think hard about buying this one. it is good. One to keep in your eBook shelf and go back for a refresher course now and then. I have purchased many other great volumes and they tend to get lost or misplaced, or borrowed and not returned; having a book like this on your eBook shelf is great. it's there when you need it.
I have has this for a long time and decided to review it now as I'm ready for a refresher course read of it.

The first 2/3 of the book talks about Lester and his anger. It includes a song that kids sing to make fun of him and it is repeated multiple times. I found more of the book modeled that type of bully behavior than addressed the specific concern. It had 2 pages on suggestions for managing anger.

I much prefer The Red Beast. Though it's written for Aspergers, the ideas apply to all and encourages empathy.

I ordered this book for my autistic son who has been struggling with anger lately. While reading it he was engaged and amused by the storyline, stopping to show me some of the silly pictures while laughing. When he finished I asked him if he learned anything from the book and his response was "yes, I learned that I shouldn't get so mad and just blow up all the time." Exactly what I wanted him to learn!

Hard to use

The information in the handbook is good, if you can find it. The appendix is useless. If you have a lot of time to search thru the handbook than it would be ok, but if you trying to quickly look something up it's frustrating.

Excellent resource for quick information and a good size for my white coat pockets. The binding is just big enough to fit all the sheets of paper in it, which makes it a but hard to turn the pages without bending them.

Not well organized...

not well organized. my medicine book was much better. the h. lane handbook is larger but better. get it if you want, it wasnt horrible. i am not getting the ICU version as a result of the poor quality of the peds book.
used book for 2 months and the bindings have started to breakdown.

LIKES - decent material, easy to use after you have studied the book for hours.
CONS - having to study this book for hours to get familiar with the layout.

About the Author

Melissa, a native of North Carolina, did her undergraduate study in journalism and business at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Veering from that course of study took her to Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond (Virginia), where she obtained a Master of Divinity and was subsequently ordained as a Baptist minister. After working several years in the church, she returned to academia in Oxford, where she was awarded a Dphil in Theology (Old Testament). Melissa is currently back in Richmond at her alma mater, BTSR, teaching Old Testament studies.

In the 19th century, the term the 'Eastern Question' referred to the problem posed by the inevitable dissolution of the Ottoman Empire, the fall of which in the 20th engendered the modern 'muddle' of the Middle East in the 21st. 

In a larger sense the East has always been a Question for the West, for the simple reason that's where the trouble comes from: the Huns, Goths, Arabs, Mongols, Turks, Russians, Soviets, to now another, less well-defined, 'non-linear,' and 'asymmetric' trouble. 

As the West declines relatively and the East rises, seemingly new questions are asked that are in fact old ones. The current conflicts in the Middle East are present-day manifestations of geopolitical dynamics that have been active in the historical process from its beginning.

In 108 watercolor maps and drawings, The Eastern Question looks at these dynamics  through a geopolitical lens with the scope of three millennia, from the days of the Persians and Alexander the Great to the headlines of today. The drawings are historical political
cartoons; the maps ground the reader in the geography of time and place. Painting with a broad brush, the author sketches the story in short texts that explain the drawings while the drawings illustrate the text. 

What began as a struggle between East and West later emerged as a struggle between Islam and Christendom, and has now re-emerged as a new war -- which is not new at all but is the continuation of the Long War that was fought for centuries and then forgotten by the West with its rise to world dominance. 

The Eastern Question portrays this story as a drama with stock characters improvising their lines in a plot the action of which has been determined by the dynamics of Desert & Sown, East & West, and Order & Fragmentation. The first half of the book is thematic,  exploring the three dynamics. The second half focuses on one of the six characters, the Ottoman Empire -- of which the modern countries of the Middle East are mere fragments -- its rise, decline, and fall, which opened the Eastern Question; and the concurrent rise of the West to world dominance, now being challenged by the revolt of Islam. With vast perspective and extensive view, The Eastern Question seamlessly connects today's events to dynamics that have been active from the beginning of history.

About the Author
Ted Danforth is a letterpress printer and author with a degree in history from Hamilton College. He was the principal of Bembo Typographic Company in New York City until 2005; and he served on the Board of the American Academy of Poets for ten years. He was the publisher and printer of Sea Cliff Press in New York City. He has delivered lectures on history and typography. The Eastern Question grew out of those series of lectures. He divides his time between Stonington, CT and Townshend, VT.

This book is not "about" 9/11, but it was prompted by the terrorist attack on the United States on 9/11. Danforth's response was to survey its deep backstory: centuries, indeed millennia, of conquest and conflict in the Middle East. He is not a professional historian, and that is probably a good thing: although the book is based on an enormous amount of research, Danforth's approach is fresh and open-minded, and his accomplishment is considerable. He manages to keep the big picture in focus even while attending to myriad trees. The writing is clear, sometimes epigrammatic.The maps and drawings are not mere supplemental illustrations; they capsulize history cleverly and memorably.This book manages to condense and distill a large amount of material that spans a great deal of time and space. I can't think of a better book for those seeking an understanding of the present-day conflict that engulfs not just the Middle East but much of the globe.

Fascinating, informative and entertaining account of this complicated area of the world providing the reader with a sound grounding from which to follow current issues in the mid east and Europe. Insightful commentary accompanies the cartoon like hand drawn maps making it delightful read.

Highly recommended

A great overview of the major movements of world civilizations. I'm only half way through the book so far, but I have gained a much clearer understanding of the geopolitical dynamics of history. It gives you the big picture so you can understand what's going on. The illustrations are excellent. I would recommend it for anyone who wants to understand the background of today's world conflicts.

Basic, not enough detail

The book is great as an introductory but does not go in as much detail as one would like. Try Keith Moores book on clinically oriented anatomy, a much more detailed look at anatomy with clinical references.

Not great

As a paramedic, I find this book confuses a LOT of topics and also makes things way more complicated than they need to be. Not to mention the just flat out wrong information it gives. It literally spends 3 pages talking about inspiration and pressure changes... I can sum it up in a few sentences. Air exchange happens because the pressure gradient int he lungs changes. There. Done. And I didn't need 3 pages for that... or pics.

This book is ridiculous TBH. I shake my head every time I read a chapter for class.
