These pages provide a basic orientation in the dark phenomenology, succinctly explaining Catholic doctrine on the fallen angels and the innumerable manifestations. Among the many questions Fr. Amorth answers in this book are: Where does the Evil One dwell in the human body? How does the Devil appear and what does he look like? What are the powers that come from Satan? Do the sins of ancestors influence our life? How are spiritual evils contracted? What is the state of souls in purgatory? What is the role of sacramentals in fighting off temptation? When should exorcisms and prayers of healing be performed? What happens during an exorcism? What you should do when a family is being attacked by a demon?

All Christian's Need to Read
By R. S. Wetzel
Father Amorth, God Bless him, who has gone to Glory, makes sense from the often chaotic and wrong information regarding just what Satan can and cannot do to the humans who love God, the humans who do not, and those lukewarm on either side of the battlefield on earth. A must for the Christian who has a calling for the deliverance of souls from evil.

A well-created compendium
By AB
This book is a superb, well-created compendium. I truly enjoyed it and will, from now on, use it as a go-to reference not only because it's so clearly written and laid out but also, and especially because - it was written by Father Amorth, who in my opinion is the greatest exorcist of our times. I don't think the sacramental of exorcism has ever been so carefully documented and the experiences of its servants been so openly available to the public. This is a must read for all men and women of faith, not just Catholics. In our times, it's crucial, that we understand how the enemy acts and we are well-informed of how we can combat its evils... Father Amorth leaves a God-sent legacy, he is a gift of God to His Church.

Start by reading the Catechism and/or the Compendium of the Catechism....
By Joseph P. Tevington
On this and related topics, readers would be best served - especially at the start - by familiarizing themselves with the Catechism and/or the Compendium of the Catechism.
In An Exorcist Explains the Demonic, the late Father Gabriel Amorth warned of the "temptation of sensationalism" (p. 7), echoing Bishop Sam Aquila in his foreword to Father Jose Antonio Fortea's Interview With an Exorcist: "Although all Catholics should have a basic understanding of the reality of evil, we should also avoid being overly preoccupied with the topic of the devil. The Evil One is capable of using such a fascination as a means to ensnare us - with despair, fear, or discouragement" (p. 3). Only God is All Powerful, and He is absolutely victorious over the devil!!! In surrendering to God, who loves each of us without limit, we find absolute fulfillment and happiness. God is forever calling us back to Him, with all our hearts.
As per Father Amorth, "If Mary, who is the Mother of Jesus, is our hope, anyone - anyone who suffers, anyone who is alone, or anyone who feels sad - can look at the Nativity of Jesus and at His Resurrection with a heart full of hope" (p. 9). "I am convinced that a good confession, which is a very powerful sacrament, is much more efficacious than an exorcism, which, as we shall see, is only a sacramental" (p. 87). That is NOT to say that Father Amorth is any way devaluing exorcism!
Those with a knee jerk skepticism about all things Catholic would no doubt be surprised by these words of Father Amorth:
* "When signs appear that could be the result of an evil spell, my first advice, always, is to address the concerns to a psychiatrist" (p.84). And that is NOT to say that Father Amorth is any way being dismissive of spiritual suffering!
